Mt. Rainier GPS Expedition 2010

Thursday, March 11th, 2010

There is a plan afoot to climb Mt. Rainier this summer with GPS equipment and a gravitometer. Previous expeditions were made in 1988 and 1999, resulting in useful GPS data and lots of breathtaking pictures, which you may see in Larry Signani’s PowerPoint presentation (102mb download) at:

A PDF version (50mb download) of the same PowerPoint can now be found at: http://www.wss-acsm.org/MT-RAINIER-REMEASUREMENT.pdf

Annual Dinner at LSAW 2010, Other Upcoming Meetings

Tuesday, March 2nd, 2010

The WSS-ACSM Annual LSAW Conference Dinner will be held in the Venice Ballroom, Hotel Murano, 1320 Broadway Plaza, Tacoma, WA 98402 at 6:30pm, Wednesday March 3rd, 2010.

The next regular dinner meeting, March 18th, 2010, will be a business meeting with no scheduled presentation, at Angelos in Bellevue.

The April dinner meeting will feature a presentation by Jon Warren, PLS, of David Evans and Associates regarding their work in support of the grout curtain retrofit at the Howard Hansen dam. This will also be at Angelos in Bellevue.

The May 20th, 2010 dinner meeting will feature a presentation by Janet Wilkins, a Land Surveyor from the Bureau of Land Management’s Oregon State Office, about the Geographic Coordinate Data Base (GCDB) project.

We are interested in hearing from anyone in the geospatial community with ideas for programs for the rest of 2010 — your own programs, something you saw elsewhere that needs more exposure, or simply something you would like to learn about.
