WSS-ACSM MINUTES

May19th, 2005

www.wss-acsm.org

Attendees:  Tim Leach, Ken Swindaman, Jon Warren

Acting for WSS-ACSM Chairman Dave George Tim Leach opened the meeting at 6:30PM.

Jon Warren moved that the April minutes be approved.  April minutes were approved.

He also suggested that Tim become Secretary/Treasurer for the interim until we

fill the Treasurer position.

Tim acknowledged that Bob Bonaker from GeoLine has posted updated minutes and

reminds us that other pages are out of date.  We discussed some of the content and

it was agreed that Tim should ask for feedback for making improvements to

the WSS-ACSM web content.

Tim attended a lunch meeting at the 2005 WAURISA Conferene in Tukwila.  WAURISA is the “Washington Urban and Regional Information Systems Association”.  Consistent with Chairman Dave George’s efforts, on behalf of WSS-ACSM he informally volunteered the services of WSS-ACSM to help provide a venue for the 2006 WAURISA conference.  We will need to follow-up and bring this forward at our next regular meeting.

Ken Swindaman representing LSAW has asked WSS-ACSM to consider contributing annually to their auction, possibly at least this year’s auction.  We agreed to bring this

forward for action at the next regular dinner meeting.

The next WSS-ACSM meeting will feature a vendor presentation along with dinner.  We agreed that this might help our regular meeting attendance while providing an

educational or informational program.

Jon Warren mentioned in order to help bridge the gap between survey and GIS professionals, that we should consider formal recognition at annually at the LSAW  conference.  We can recognize a surveyor for accomplishments within GIS as the “GIS  Surveyor of the Year”, then likewise a person from the GIS profession for  accomplishments within surveying “GIS Associate Surveyor of the Year”.  Ken Swindaman and Tim Leach agreed.  We made a motion, passed the motion and will bring this idea  forward for our next regular meeting.

We closed the meeting at 8:15PM.  Next Meeting:  Thursday, June 16th, 6:00PM

REGULAR MEETINGS ARE ON THE THIRD THURSDAY OF EACH MONTH AT ANGELO'S RESTAURANT IN BELLEVUE (1830 130TH AVE NE). ARRIVE AT ABOUT 6:00PM.
